CITIZEN WATCHDOG ASKS:
As often as possible...

(Watchdog: A Citizen who reports on things for other citizens in order to arouse them from complacency.) By Sam Dehné, Flapdoodle Evaluator
47. Governmental immunity is a license to lie... a license to lie... a license to lie... a license to lie... Period! Apparently Lewinsky does not want to lie...
46. Has anybody else noticed the job the make-up artists have done on this Paula Jones? Wonder why? Think about it...
45. Is it right for the mayor's campaign fund raiser ($30,000 already) to own a company that is receiving huge amounts of $$$public funds from both the Reno city hall ($120,000 so far... in small increments)... and the Reno Airport (who knows how much?) Propaganda Machines? Shouldn't the mayor be compelled by ethics to point out Conflicts of Interest like this? Shouldn't these questionable contracts be canceled? No problemma in Reno politics...
44. EDAWN is a publicly funded "Authority" generally made up of the usual big-business suspects. In order to attend one of their semi-secret meetings... citizens have to have a personal invite from one of its fat cats.
44a.THIS IS WRONG! But on the spctrum of "stink" permeating Reno... it is like mouse flatus in the Amazon jungle...
43. This may be hard to believe... but in 3 years of attendance at Reno Un-american Airport Board meetings... there has never been an utterance of interest by the trustees... in the well-being and safety of Reno citizens. True story. Check the tapes of the minutes. Only citizens in attendance have shown any interest in these issues...
42. It is Microsoft that should be receiving the media attention. Their gross anti-trust activities are far more damaging than anything the president might or might not have done with Monica Lewinski. If Netscape, which is a FAR BETTER INTERNET BROWSER, is driven out of business, it will be a travesty of justice. And the feeding-frenzy news scavengers are afraid to report these truths...
41. Those citizens who have seen the lavish publicly-funded Conference of Mayors promo-video should be appalled. Blatant personal promotion of the mayor by his former campaign organizer-crony, Parmer. This video was made in a clandestine manner... without even a contract. Just a lot of public money (YOUR TAXES) funneled unilaterally... from the mayor... to his previous (and probably future) campaign crony.
41a. Should public taxes be used to promote alcohol... as is done flippantly in this brainwashing video? Geez, then why not prostitution... and gambling? Sounds like some naive visiting mayors better be on their guards...
40. Could there be any truth to the rumor circulating ... that the governor is considering perennial appointee Sue Camp... as the replacement for judge Mills Lane? Qualifications? Have they been a hindrance to her innumerable appointments in the past (currently a plush County Commission slot)? She probably knows at least as much about the law as she does about airplanes and airports (which is very little)... and she was annointed to the Reno Airport Board by Da Mayor with no problemma. So don't be surprised.
39. Let us not forget... during this "he said, she said" Washington sexio-politico brouhaha... that immoral perversion also continues to permeate Reno's Un-american Airport. Illegal and diabolical landgrabs from innocent elderly citizens, clandestine kickback contracts for da mayor, cronyism, amateurism...
38. The "immunity scheme" in America is ridiculous... a farce. How can anybody believe the word of somebody who is often compelled to lie... if they want to avoid prosecution and prison?!?
37. When is this "independent" kouncil Ken Starr character going to order Hilary to testify and answer questions about whether she has participated in any sexual affairs? Or how about Chelsea? The dog and cat? Where does the witch hunt end?
37a. Folks, at the military academies, the Honor Code forbids the asking of "improper questions"... otherwise known as "fishing expeditions"...
37b. Maybe, just maybe, the Prez didn't "settle" with Jonesie because... he didn't do it. Would you settle if innocent? Besides, his previous history of "quality control" was much higher...
37c. Guilty or innocent, the really pertinent issue is for Starr to answer some "proper questions"... like, who (in the Republican party) is pushing his buttons?

36. A world turned upside down: Since when is it defamatory to a woman's reputation to deny a sexual tryst? In a normal world, a man tries to save the woman embarrassment... by denying that they "played with the snake". In our nation's capital, as might be expected, it is the opposite...
35. How are the fat cat business moguls keeping inflation down? By maintaining worker insecurity with occasional haphazard mass layoffs...
34. The Lewinski brouhaha is another example of misplaced priorities... as the Reno news media again steps on piss ants... and lets the elephants run over it... missing masses of local political chicanery and corruption.
33. Could this bizarre brouhaha be a scheme created by the media (TV, talk radio, news magazines, etc) to prop up sagging ratings?
33a. As far as Lewinsky's late night visits to the White House... check the other side of the equation and see if the president was around on all of those nights. If he wasn't there, what else was she doing there? That "smoking gun" would have no bullets...
32. If this Tripp character is shown to be a liar, will she go to jail? Not! She will write a book and make millions... as the usual fickle idiots eat it up...
31. Let's hope for Mill's sake this flapdoodle blows over soon. Who will watch his show if they can see the real thing everyday? Timing is everything...
30. It used to be that what men and women do behind closed doors was their own business. Who gave the government's "independent" kouncil the right to get into this bed? Don't you hope that this Starr bully is wrong... maybe being set up? He is off base with his shotgun technique.
30a. Telling your bedmate to be discreet about a private affair ["Dear, this is nobody else's business."]... is not Obstruction of Justice. If some court decrees it is, that court is out of bounds...
30b. This mess has the fingerprints of the Christian Right Coalition all over it.
30a. My money is on Bubba on THIS ONE...
29. Think of it this way. Each time a new flight is added to Reno's Un-american Airport, it is like 1,000s of innocent citizens in the valley being forced to squeeze their lips tighter around those engine exhaust pipes. It is Un-american. It is time to move the airport... or reduce the cancerous airport growth. Put a moratorium on new flights until they fill the ones they have now...
29a. If the airlines had any sense they would love this demand. Why fly around with 40% of the seats empty? They should hire Citizen Gadfly to run their operations...
28. For those who don't know it, almost everybody who spoke in favor of the River/Theater project... is on the city hall dole one way or another... directly or indirectly. No conflict there, huh?
27. This locally invented A-55 Fuel looks like it could be the real thing. It is far cheaper and cleaner than what you are using now. It can work in everything that is used now... with just slight changes. The problem? Big oil companies will fight it tooth and nail. Things like this are anethma to Big Oil...
26. Why won't the citizens of Reno stand up in defense of themselves... against the continuous, non-stop, never-ending, noise-polluting, fuel-polluting "attacks" from the Reno Un-american Airport? Instead they say nothing, and the Assault and Battery gets worse and worse.
26a. Citizens' refusal to speak out against the onslaught is... "battered citizen syndrome".
25. No wonder local government is such a mess. City hall (and the Reno Gazette) think that citizens are "customers". Wrong! Citizens are city hall's "BOSSES"...
24. How much propaganda is enough? Well, at the Reno Un-american airport there is never enough. Besides already wasting $821,000 (1997) of taxpayers' money brainwashing the taxpayers, the trustees approved an expansion of their brainwashing staff.
23. The Reno Gazette reports on Reno Airport Food Concession Issues. Just more flapdoodle... while the real stories of incompetence, kickback contracts, cronyism, subterfuge, and general malaise are ignored. But what do you expect? The Gazette is funded by the Airport through its surrogate, RenoAir, that has a huge advertising budget with that paper. Oh, and don't forget about that BIG thumb squishing down on the paper's airport reporter. Supporting THIS... are YOUR taxes...
22. The governor has created a commission to analyze problems with explosive manufacturing and handling. Same old "commission" story with the same old faces... no regular citizens need apply...
20. The lawsuit filed by the innocent citizens of Rewana Farms (challenging the Reno Airport's diabolical confiscation of their homes) has come back from the Court of Appeals. In a "Memorandum" 3 judges basically said the complaint wasn't "ripe". In other words, come back when the airport actually uses CONDEMNATION TO force these downtrodden citizens off their land.
20a. Or... come back when they can produce a body... but by then it might be too late for some. 7 residents have died since the airport czars started their landgrab...

19. The airport describes these innocent citizens as "willing sellers". Sure! They've turned their neighborhood into what looks like a Third World ghetto. Seven have died. Airplane noise is purposefully exacerbated. The blight-dorks have been called out in full force. Their water wells are being polluted. How more willing can they be?
18. On 15 Jan a lawyer appeared before the Airport trustees and introduced himself as an "attorney in private practice"... and then proceeded to tell everybody how wonderful emanant domain would be for the residents of Rewana Farms. What he didn't say was that he is being paid by the airport to inculcate the public into believing he is an unbiased citizen. Is he? Not!
17. How does the Reno Un-american Airport rationalize its citizen-unfriendly actions? Well, um, folks... due to lack of input and interest from the public, we deem it urgent to continue our cancerous expansion plans... What?
16.Is it possible that the mayor of Reno actually said, "I'm not sure what 75 decibels (dbs of noise) sounds like."??? Yes he did... at city council on 13 January.
16a.If he would spend a few minutes at any Reno neighborhood within 2 to 5 miles of the Reno Un-american airport, he would know... over and over again... [737s - 70 dbs a "Nuisance", MD-80s - 80 dbs "Disturbing the Peace", 727s - 90 dbs "Assault and Battery"]
15. With the Reno mayor and city council averaging about 15% to 25% of the vote, what can be done to get more people to show up? Almost everybody votes in Australia, where it's illegal not to vote. But numerous European nations get some 80% of the citizens of the vote, even though
voting isn't mandatory. They vote on Sunday...
14. EDAWN? Do innocent citizens know anything about yet another publicly funded good 'ol boys club of Special Interest Fat Cats? It turns out that, EVEN THOUGH YOUR TAXES PAY FOR IT, you have to have a special invite from one of its members to attend one of its "private" meetings.
14a. Turns out its chairman is one of those big planning consultants (spelled "developer").
As is usual in local big-business politics, Conflict of Interest" is a requirement for membership.
14b. Along with the Reno Un-american Airport Trustees, the RSCVA, and of course, the Reno city council, it can claim credit for causing the blight you are infested with... while fattening their own engorged wallets.
13. (01/12/98) There is NO WAY the good old USA won't be damaged by the economic collapse (Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Europe... ) around the world. Who is propping up the stock market?
12. If it can be proven that the city of Reno doesn't own the area above and below the streets, maybe it doesn't own the streets either. That would mean they should have to give back the parking fees they have been charging all these years...
12a. Speaking of parking fees, the unilateral doubling of these taxes has apparently made downtown Reno less citizen-friendly. Even though it now costs twice as much to park, revenue has not increased. In other words, about half as many citizens are using the parking spots...
11. People who believe the bureaucratic diatribe that the Reno area is only growing about 3% - 5% a year are out of their minds. Just take a drive around. City hall can rubberstamp 3% worth of cancerous growth in a month. There are not enough resources, room, or patience... And growth NEVER pays for the negative impact it creates.
10. Why can't the postman reverse his/her route every month or so? That way everybody would get their mail in the morning... sometimes. The middle guy would continue to get his at the same time.
9. Why has the Reno bomb-making plant been ignored by local, state & federal inspectors? It may not have had a building permit or business license. The workers may have been illegal immigrants working below minimum wage on piecework. This whole thing is so sleazy that the plant must belong to very important people, as the paper had little or no discussion of who owned it.
9a. The federal inspectors were busy entrapping and apprehending a local bartender for
converting an UZI to full-auto.
9b. The local inspectors? Who knows what they were doing, if anything.
9c. The state OSHA inspectors? Who knows what they were doing.
8. The latest caper has one of the mayor's Airport Board appointees, Phil Miller... being appointed to the presidency of EDAWN. Folks, the mayor's private company works for EDAWN. So the mayor's appointee/crony, Miller, is now the mayor's boss! Whew... is anybody else having a hard time keeping up with these schemes?
8a. Don't forget that appointee Miller was also involved in the mayor's unethical $27,500 Airport kickback contract... that is still under investigation.
7. An revealing study done at Chicago's airport reveals that one two minute 747 take-off (similar to about 2 MD-80s) is equal to operating over two-million lawnmowers for 20 minutes. That is two states' worth of lawnmowers (Nitrogen oxides, Carbon monoxides, Hydrocarbons).
7a. One DC-10 (about 2 MD-80s) takeoff's pollution is equal to 21,530 cars!
6. Where is the sanity in a scheme in which the FAA funnels huge sums of $$$public money to the Reno Un-american Airport in order to force innocent citizens off their land with an illegal landgrab... and at the same time refuses to provide up-to-date Air Traffic Control equipment for the already over-taxed local flight safety system? They have been extremely lucky so far, but this insane fiscal policy will eventually come back to haunt them...
6a. The terrible explosion at a Reno chemical plant is an example of the type of tragedy that is waiting to happen at the airport. But what can citizens expect with aviation amateurs and their Fed cronies running the operation? There is too much cronyism, too many kickback contracts, too many cover-ups of violations, too much danger...
5. The Reno Gazette states that city council was "vindicated". Absolutely wrong! The records show that serial (secret) meetings were held between certain council members and the theater moguls. And even if this were not the case, council was certainly NOT vindicated... with their ongoing kickback contracts, funneling public funds to political cronies, etc, etc...
4. An Airport Prayer: Dear Lord, citizens in the valley pray that Thou might transfer the ungodly airport noise to the fat cats up on the hill... the fat cats who created the noise... so they would have to taste their own medicine! Especially the 2 AM Takeoffs!
3. All it takes is situations such as the fat cat-promulgated cancerous growth of casinos like the Atlantis... to get innocent citizens to look forward to a downturn in the economy. These blightful developments never pay for the negative impact they have on the community... crime, poverty, family hardships with underpaid cheap labor, reduced poperty values and quality of life, increased airport danger and noise... you name it.
3a. By the way, the top brass of the Atlantis, with no aviation background, somehow found himself on the Airport Board of "Trustees"... along with the other 7 aviation amateurs.
2. The Reno News & Review's Brian Burghart exposed a plethora of "blunders" that greatly exacerbated Reno's '97 flood. He was too polite to point fingers... at the Reno mayor, city council, and numerous other "in charge" bureaucrats. Why didn't these bureaucrats raise holy hell with the other bureaucrats who ordered that the Tahoe flood gates be opened.... raining devastation upon Reno's citizens? Why isn't the BIG news media asking questions about this scandal?
1. Anybody who skis without some sort of head protection helmet device... is wacko. The recent deaths have been a windfall for helmet makers.
JANUARY REPORTS:
38. With a weeklong blitzkrieg of headline propaganda... promoting the cancerous growth of gambling, one would think the Gazette writers would have the courtesy... to point out that its Publisher (boss) sits on the board of directors of the biggest gambling machine in the nation. Do you think there was a little bias in the stories?
37. The airlines using Reno's Un-american Airport should not be able to thrive $$$financially off of the physical, psychological, and financial misery of citizens. No sir! RenoAir is the worst culprit...
36. Even if Reno gambling were to die in Reno, Las Vegas gambling saloons would get most of the defectors... and hence continue to fill the states $$$$coffers... as well they should...
37. Are the gambling bosses going to shut the El Dorado casino down... or Harrah's... or Circus Circus... or Atlantis? NOT! Just a lot of scare tactics by the Gazette.
35. A grass-roots analysis of the attitude of citizens shows that the trend is running against the blundering... citizen-be-damned... way the Reno Airport amateur-trustees are operating.
34. When are the casino barons going to start providing airline service to South Tahoe... if they really want to beef up gambling there? Reno's Un-american Airport is way past saturation...
33. Why has ace Reno Gazette reporter, John Stearns, been working overtime... running interference for Reno's gambling moguls? Heretofore he spent most of his time doing the same for Reno's Un-american Airport amateurs...
32. One thing that is continually overlooked with all this recent "gaming" brouhaha, is the ever-increasing blight and danger of the Reno Un-american Airport... which is still being "run" (into the ground) by aviation amateurs...
32a. The people who suffer with the blight of unabated casino growth are Reno citizens. The people who profit are the casino barons... period.
32b. Less growth (casino AND business) would mean, among many other benefits: [a] less crime, [b] fewer homeless people hanging out, [c] less deterioration of the streets, [d] less blight and sprawl, [e] less deathly smog, [f] a less noisy airport... and [g] a much better quality of life. Click here for overlooked examples.
31. Shouldn't those ubiquitous Reno Gazette articles defending "gaming" (aka "gambling") point out that "gaming" causes many of the problems... that make higher citizens' taxes necessary in the first place?
30. Did anybody know that Reno's mayor is the chairman of the Conference of Mayors "Criminal and Social Justice" Committee??? Unbelievable!
29. Some of the brass down at the Comstock Bank must be spending too much time at the eggnog bar. Recommending that Reno's mayor be given more power?!? With his record of kickback contracts and funneling of tax funds to cronies, he should be given less power... as in "none". Enter this room for more city hall Noodlehead antics.
28. With their well-established modus operandi, why not just have all city council decisions made via serial (secret) meetings... with the $million dollar city hall Brainwshing Machine issuing press releases to announce typical fat cat-sponsored council decisions? A lot of time could be saved by eliminating sham public input, etc... SNCAT television video tape would be saved.
28a. Folks, they may as well make it official. Who do they think they're fooling, anyway? Just about every important issue is pre-decided in those back rooms or in smoky saloons... almost always to the detriment of citizens... and to the financial benefit of the Special Interest fat cats. What you see at those Tuesday city council meetings is mostly window dressing.
27. One of the earlier scandals of the Reno mayor's administration... continues unchecked. His private company is going forward with its lucrative taxpayer-funded contract... given to him by his subordinates at the Reno Un-american Airport... in defiance of the laws, and the spirit of the laws, of Nevada and Reno.
26. At 1 PM on Xmas Eve, we remind you that this is your chance to see our internet Christmas Card at "Click" to view.
25. The cronyism at city hall continues to defy the imagination. Even with a $680,000 (and rapidly increasing) taxpayer-funded Brainwashing Machine, their precious Mayors Conference is in jeopardy as mayors throughout the nation are made aware of the ever-escalating problems permeating Reno government.
24. You've heard it before... but isn't it time to give the local weather reporters the thing they need most for Xmas... a window. There was not one report of the Xmas eve snow... until AFTER Reno received some 2 inches.
24a. Scraping the snow off of the newspaper I couldn't help but read the front page feature that said... "Snow unlikely"... Who to blame? There's always El Nino...
23. Find a Cookie Jar... and there's the mayor... A recent Reno Gazette investigation reveals that the mayor's fund raising crony, Phil Rose, has been rewarded more than $120,000 worth of plush city hall contracts for "various public relations jobs". No conflicts there?!?
22. After several visits to the downtown ice-skating rink (to make sure it was real), there is little doubt that this is one of the best ideas this council has come up with. Let's hope it doesn't get flooded out... or that city hall doesn't come up with some scheme to "increase revenue (taxes)"...
22a. Forget about building the downtown theaters...
21. It is being reported that Incline Village, with some of the highest property values in the county, is at zero growth because it is built-out. Wouldn't homeowners (voters) in Reno also benefit from a sane zero growth policy; because their houses would go up in value? And there would be less need for new schools, police, road repair, sewers, etc, etc... so taxes would go down... or at least stagnate...
20. The Reno Amateur Airport propaganda staff has numerous bizarre ways of brainwashing the public. Lately they are trying to convince citizens (who are dumb enough to believe them) that a reduction in airport traffic would cause problems at the state prison. Yup...
19. Reno's mayor has been caught again with his hands in the cookie jar.... trying to funnel more public funds (taxes) to political cronies. This scheme was previously shrouded in secrecy, and most of city council sat on their thumbs... horrified as council members Judy Herman and Candy Pearce (with help from citizen Sam Dehne) unraveled the mess... right before the public. Part of the unraveling process revealed that certain other council critters also have previously undisclosed campaign ties to these cronies.
19a. A Resolution, containing numerous poignant questions, was presented to city hall and depicts the corrupt nature of Reno government more succinctly. Please read it carefully... click here.
18. Question for aviation amateurs at Reno's Amateur Airport: If you had just taken off from the Reno-Casino Airport and lost power on one of your airplane's engines, would you:
a. Continue climbing with the good engine... maybe running into the mountains?
b. Shut down the good engine?
c. Return and descend and land at the perfectly good airport you just left?
If you picked "c", congratulations, you are a genius... bordering on being a rocket scientist!
If, on the other hand, you picked "a", then you qualify for a job with the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA)... because that is what an airline spokesman says they are told to do... "continue climbing to safely clear the mountains..."
18a. So therefore, we have the threat of the following bizarre scenario at Reno's Amateur Airport (a conversation recorded some 2 minutes after takeoff... retrieved from the cockpit voice-recorder):
Capt:
"Copilot, we just had an engine flameout. Push power up on the good engine and let's CLIMB."
Copilot:
"Yes sir! Ummm... but, sir, I can see a perfectly good airport right there behind us. The one we just took off from. Why can't we just return and land THERE? It would be so simple. Why keep climbing with just one engine?"
Capt:
"Son, the FAA says we are to climb out of this valley, and you know what happens to your pilot's license when you don't follow FAA orders. So climb we will... mountains or no mountains... push that power up." ........................
17. Have you ever heard of any agency (especially government) waiting until the end of a contract... to sign the contract. What is to prevent skulduggery and gouging of citizens... as appears to be the case with the mayor's funneling of Public Funds to his political cronies?
17a. A company named Parmer ($$$involved in the political campaigns of several city council critters... and who has now had a plush contract funneled to it by Reno's mayor) has been receiving these public funds... lots of them... since May. Folks, a contract was never even signed until December 16! For heavens sake, the gosh-darn contract EXPIRES December 31! The lack of accountability (spelled integrity?)... for public funds... at city hall never seizes to amaze. Is this the tip of the iceberg? Where is the IRS? Where is the FBI? Where is the Attorney General?
17b. How many shady deals is one city council and mayor allowed to get away with? Their logo should read: "Don't let facts get in the way of bad government."
16. Doesn't city hall realize they can't have it both ways? Every time they Rubberstamp another development on the outskirts of town... for their fat cat cronies... they make it THAT much more likely that citizens will not visit downtown. And getting citizens to migrate downtown to spend their bucks is city hall's obsessive quest.
15. Isn't there something inherently wrong with city hall paying huge amounts of taxpayers' funds to a newspaper... that is supposed to report objectively on its problems? How can they possibly do that?
14. Why does Reno (with about twice the population of Sparks)... find the need for almost 6 times more taxpayer-funded attorneys? It seems to say something (not pretty, folks) about the "situation" at Reno city hall...
13. Folks, it has gotten to the point where the best way to become a part of the Reno Airport government (as governor or governee)... is to have some sort of private kickback contract with the airport... the bigger the better. Don't let it bother you that this is in complete defiance of the laws of Reno and Nevada... and of the spirit of honorable government in general...
12. Typical of the Reno Gazette... "Bicycle Trails" gets big front page headlines. They say some folks don't want bikes in their houses. What about the citizens who don't want airliners in their back yards? Now that is something to complain about... and something to write about... but you rarely read about this terrible problem in the Gazette...
12a. Another interesting article about a councilwoman asking questions about the Mayors Conference scheming and conniving. Not! It was citizen activist, Sam Dehne, who exposed this mess AND asked the questions at city hall. Council sat stupefied, closed-mouthed and/or ignorant of the scheme... until the issue was forced upon them. Now that the bandwagon is going full-speed, people are jumping on board...
12b. The eventual editorial on the subject was basically an item-by-item indictment of the mayor's back-door dealings. Any intelligent citizen would see that. Only Noodleheads would pay any attention to the defensive "spin" the editor tried to put on the mess...
12c. They describe the $50,000 of taxpayer funds that the mayor is funneling to his political crony as "only token funds"!
1. On 2 Dec the Reno city hall staff told the council that by 2015 they projected 500,000 people to be trying to live in what citizens will soon call the Washoe Cess-Bowl. Was there objection to this outrageous forecast? The main concern was making sure that city hall got its share of revenue (normally referred to as taxes).
1a. This is an issue that is far too important for fat cat lackeys to decide. This was a perfect opportunity to let the citizens decide by a vote. A simple question; "Do you want 500,000 people to be living in the valley in the year 2015?"
1b. Why did they not ask questions like; Where's the water? Where's the air? Where's the patience?
2. Councilperson Dave Aiazi continues to harp on the fact that I, Sam Dehne, have a small lot on Mt Rose Highway for sale. He says that is hypocritical. Folks, to compare this dinky little less-than-one-acre lot (click here to see it)... to the regularly rubber-stamped developments of up to 1,000 blight-inducing units is preposterous...
3. The Nevada Ethics Commission found the Reno mayor to be guilty of Conflict of Interest... in having an illegal kickback contract with his subordinates at the Reno Un-american Airport. Isn't it past time to now revisit and cancel the vote that appointed his cronies to the airport board... AND eliminate that unethical kickback contract? EDAWN and FTZs should go to the open market for operators... not to Reno's mayor...
3a. Besides the bloating of the mayor's private coffers, the creation of more Free Trade Zones will also exacerbate the danger, noise, and blight of the airport.
4. The APPOINTED district councils continue to be surrogate mouth-pieces for the city council... who continue to be surrogate mouth-pieces for the fat cat Special Interests... who finance their election campaigns...
5. The Reno city council premeditatedly and knowingly appointed another aviation amateur to the Reno Un-american Airport board... who has a private contract with the airport. This is in contradiction to numerous sections of the Nevada Law. How can citizens expect a person to make honorable decisions to oversee and correct incompetence and corruption... when that person has a lucrative contract with those very people he is supposed to be monitoring?!?
5a. City hall's new modus operandi is: If the mayor can get away with it, why not his cronies, huh?
5a. Skullduggery like this is what gives bad local government... a worse name.
6. City hall got along just fine for many years... without a taxpayer financed $680,000 Public Information Organization. Was city hall more honorable then? One person's public information is another person's brainwashing.
7. Reno's Un-american Airport continues to mis-use USA tax funds (obtained via a "bogus-ly" perpetrated "Noise Study") to force innocent citizens out of their homes. These citizens are not complaining about noise. These citizens have never been offered noise insulation. There ARE lots of other citizens who are complaining. It is un-american to pilfer land away from innocent
people...
8. The Reno Un-american Airport's $312,000 Propaganda Machine has a taxpayer funded publication called the Airport Flyer. In a classic brainwashing scheme, they write articles titled; "Quietly Recognized"... which refers to awards given to airlines that fly what they absurdly call "quieter" airplanes. Any airline that accepts such an absurd "award" should be ashamed. The closest thing to quiet that can be found out there are the Southwest 737s. The MD-80s... flown by RenoAir and other carriers... blast the serene valley with ear-shattering noise pollution... morning, noon , and late-night...
8a. Sample noise meter readings taken by citizens reveal 737s climbing out at an average of 70 decibels, MD-80s blasting out at an average of 80 decibels, and 727s blasting out at an average of 88 decibels. (Anything over 70 decibels is intolerable.)
8b. 737s are called Stage III, and 727s are labeled Stage II. By this scheme of analysis, that makes the MD-80 a Stage II and 1/4...
9. Has anybody taken a look at the "committee" the mayor unilaterally hand-picked to handle the Mayors Conference. It is a veritable Who's Who of his political-crony fat cats. Not a Regular Joe in the bunch. The "same old list of suspects"... What kind of perks are they getting for this payoff? Former mayor, Sferrazza, however, is an innocent by-stander... probably tokenly placed on the committee to give it some dignity.
9a. Maybe the mayor hoped nobody would find out. Wrong.
10. A fascinating thing to watch at city council meetings is the maneuvering that takes place "behind the scenes" between various fat cat agents and city hall bureaucrats... things you don't see by just watching on SNCAT. A real eye-opener... the whispering and giggling....
11. Why doesn't Reno's Un-american airport take steps to make the Lake Tahoe Airport a more viable operation... even if they have to subsidize it? They brag about how many tourists go to Lake Tahoe. So why should they have to make a wasteful stop at Reno?
