CITIZEN WATCHDOG ASKS:
As often as possible...

(Watchdog: A Citizen who reports on things for other citizens in order to arouse them from complacency.) By Sam Dehné, Flapdoodle Evaluator 17. Former Redevelopment leader, Norris Bacho, is on the brink of bringing legal charges against his former bosses at city hall. And if he wins, will the guilty parties pay for their unethical actions? Unfortunately, it will once again be the tax-paying citizens. This has to stop... the perpetrators must be held accountable... period.
Rumor has it that another, recently "axed", high-ranking city employee has hired investigators and is also close to filing separate charges against this regime...
16. One more nail was recently hammered into Reno's coffin... as Detroit's city council approved a $1,800,000,000 plan to make theirs the largest city with casino gambling. Folks, there are only so many dollars to be gambled away. Guess who is involved here... Circus Circus and MGM Grand... among others.
16a. And Chicago's $2,000,000,000 gambling decision is on the horizon...
16b. Do you think Detroit's mayor Archer will be sending gamblers to Reno?
16c. There are far too many greedy amateurs permeating Reno politics... and that Golden Goose is currently on an artificial respirator.
15. The last thing Reno needs is Nike... and fortunately Nike doesn't want Reno... a win-win situation. Reno should only solicit companies with jobs that will benefit the community. Low-paying jobs create terrible negative financial burdens on the other members of the community.
14. Does anybody know that it was the current mayor's campaign advisor (Parmer) who was paid large sums of public tax dollars to conduct a poll... that somehow came up with answers that the current administration wants to hear? All citizens should be allowed to see how the poll questions were worded... and if they were "rigged".
13. Reno city hall (and most of council) is trying to use the "general fund" to "clean up downtown". Work is to be finished by 1 June... to coincide with the Mayor's Conference shindig.
This is subterfuge and a gross misuse of public funds. The Mayors Conf should pay for the Mayors Conf.
Citizens of Reno should not be paying for this fat cat shindig. There are lots of other areas of this town that need cleaning up and repair far worse than "downtown"!
12. Isn't there something inherently wrong with the Nevada state attorney general acting as campaign manger for the Reno city attorney?
11. The Reno Airport's own charts prove that they are (once again) deceiving the public. The Noise Contours from an MD-80 are 3 times larger than a 737... and almost as large as that of a 727!
They claim that MD-80s are "quiet" airliners; portraying them as Stage 3... when in fact, they are Stage 2 1/4 at best. This is a gross injustice to the much quieter B-737. Anybody with ears knows those highly paid brainwashers were prevaricating all along...
10. Is the Nevada Air Guard being downsized?
Fact: The Reno Airport is using $$$millions of your federal tax dollars in an ill-contrived scheme to drive innocent Rewana Farms citizens off of their land... for what the Airport claims is needed expansion of the Nevada Air Guard.
Report: Reliable sources (supported by news of base closings by the Pentagon) have it that the Air Guard is about to be drastically down sized. If true, this eliminates any need for expansion.
Conclusion: Folks, it is time to put an immediate end to this diabolical Airport madness and demand an honorable Federal investigation of the whole mess.
Demands for an end to this type of cronyistic corruption have been a vital part of Sam's Reno mayoral Platform: http://www.renocitizen.com/mayor.htm (click)

9. The Reno Airport could use a "Millennium Plan"... a 20 year strategy to replace the Airport with a vibrant urban center that will enhance the quality of life for all Reno citizens. (Move the current airport operations 10 miles north to Stead.)
It would emphasize high technology businesses with education and technology surrounded by open space, parks, recreation, sports and cultural uses. It could include, among many other things... Education, Research & Technology, Arts & Culture, Sports & Entertainment.
Pollution, noise, danger and blight would be drastically reduced.
For starters maybe a world class zoo... and a casino???
It would certainly make it easier to get from the east side of Reno to the west side Reno...
8. The Reno Airport is digging itself a shallow grave... as it tries to expand... while, at the same time RenoAir is retrenching. This is a dangerous financial scheme that could leave the Airport bankrupt. But then, what do they care? It is the citizens who will pay; not the aviation amateurs...
7. Should a $1,500 campaign donation from a political crony demand that the current mayor "disclose" it... before voting to rubberstamp an Atlantis Casino expansion for his friendly "donator? YES! The word "disclose" is not in the current mayor's vocabulary. Why doesn't the defacto city hall mouthpiece report violations like this?
7a. This current mayor has rarely met a scheme involving his private company or his cronies and tax funds... that he would "disclose" to the public.
6. Reno city hall funnels $$$thousands of YOUR tax dollars to that notorious publicly funded EDAWN (the "A" stands for "Authority"). And guess what? You can't even attend an EDAWN "secret" meeting without a personal invite from one of the "who's who" of fat cats... who run the blight creating operation... What ever happened to Nevada's Open Meeting law?
5. Isn't it time for the casinos to take a serious look at doing something about the smoking in their buildings... before the authorities have to step in? There are at least 2 ways to mitigate the problem:
a. Seal off Smoking and No Smoking gambling rooms.
b. Order all smoker-gamblers to use those new self-contained internal filter doodads that the tobacco companies have invented.
4. What happened to once local "darling" RenoAir? It is suddenly being attacked vociferously... even by the Gazette. With cutbacks and maybe even a buyout, the Reno Airport's diabolical landgrab is looking dumber everyday...
3. Communications problems at EDAWN??? You bet! This 40% Publicly Funded Good 'Ol Boys Club has defacto "secret" meetings... that citizens cannot attend without a special invite. Even though the majority of funding for this "authority" comes from the public coffers, elections are internal. This entire operation demands an investigation by the state Attorney General... of the Federal government.
3a. They say they havae created a "citizens' committee" to find a new presidential propaganda czar for this gang. Same old "usual suspects"... not a working stiff in the group. Only presidents, CEOs... kings, queens, and potentates accepted...
2. FAA is running AMOK. The Noise Funding Program (insulation and property purchasing) was created to respond to citizens who were complaining. It was never intended to force un-complaining citizens off their land. The citizens of Rewana Farms are not complaining about the noise. Airport Authority... leave them alone!
2a. Purchase property in the areas where citizens are complaining... as the Program was designed.
2b. In Las Vegas the Airport folks are more citizen friendly. There the land purchases give "residents the option to sell homes".
1. Why are airlines exempt from NOISE rules? Every other mode of private (and most government) transportation has to abide by guidelines... buses, taxis, trains, etc? Why not the noisiest of all... the airlines? Citizens are irate... now battling each other to try and force the airline noise off of their homes onto those of neighbors and vice versa....
MARCH CITIZEN WATCHDOG:
18. Reno needs 2 mayors! Griffin(?) for downtown...since those DT fat cats pay his way anyway. And another mayor for the rest of the town... that is basically ignored... except where Griffin is feathering his nest with publicly-funded $$$contracts for his private company.
17. Reno Gazette's erstwhile gambling editorialist, John Stearns, continues hard at it... promoting the growth of gambling in Reno. His "scare" tactics have the scenario backwards. It is the cancerous growth of those ubiquitous gambling houses (that pay good salaries and bonuses mainly to the top brass) that is causing the demand for "... a myriad of state programs from education to law enforcement to medical care." Not the other way around.
17a. With less cancerous gambling growth, there would be fewer of the low-wage jobs in the area... hence fewer underpaid citizens who require all the aforementioned "state programs".
17b. Folks, much of Reno's terrible blight and the problems of the last 10 years can be laid right at the feet of the political pawns of the gambling casinos. The once Golden Goose has shot itself... right in the egg.
16. Do you think maybe the Reno Gazette is feeding you beans when they try to scare you into thinking there won't be enough money to pay for "Medicaid, prisons, and schools" if we don't have more gaming? Folks, gaming (gambling) is what attracts the people to Reno... that creates the need for more... Medicaid, prisons, and schools in the first place!
16a. They forgot to mention police, road repair, gangs, pollution, blight, danger, noise, and so on and so forth... The fat cats benefit from the gaming. The proletariat pays for the negative consequences.
16b. Who needs the cancerous growth? Gambling casinos ... and that federally subsidized corporate welfare symbol, the Reno Airport. That's who...
15. Just what Reno citizens need... more noisy, dangerous, air polluting airline flights. Did you know that Reno Air is turning Reno's Un-american Airport into a "Hub"? That means they have more and more flights that carry passengers THROUGH the airport. They stand around and play the slots at the the airport... and only the fat cats down there benefit.
15a. This classic corporate welfare operation engorges its pockets... at the expense of dozens of 1,000s of Reno citizens... whose lives are made miserable by this dangerous cancerous growth in airline traffic.
13. Of course those local casinos should be funding the publicly-funded RSCVA's Convention Center... and not with loans... with cash! Isn't it way past time for them to pay their fair share... for the terrible blight they cause to Reno... poverty... busted streets... gangs... the overcrowded, noisy, dangerous, and air-polluting airport that brings the moms and pops in... to be fleeced of their money?
13a. By the way, if they do make the loans, will they be in front of or behind the $$$multi-million Bond Holders... that RSCVA is indebted to currently? Wasn't it just last year that RSCVA violated Nevada Law by reneging on paying some of those Bonds for many months?

12. More proof that the Reno Un-american Airport is Un-american. The "trustees" (most of whom were appointed by aristocratic fat catpawns) want to hire an attorney whose "...relationship and loyalty to the Board and Airport Authority will develop and hopefully become an integral part of carrying out the Boards objectives."
This is flat out-right diabolically wrong. It is back ass-wards. It is not the way Democracy is supposed to work.
When citizens' taxes pay for an attorney, THIS PERSON MUST BE LOYAL TO THE CITIZENS. Doesn't this kind of Airport diatribe sound like propaganda from 1930's Germany?
11. What sort of Voodoo Economics Flapdoodle is publicly funded EDAWN using to cause them to predict that an $11 million payroll will inject $60,000,000 into Reno's economy? Does anybody else have a problem with bizarre business operations like that? Click here for more.
10. Who gives the aviation amateurs at Reno's Un-american Airport the power to hire a carpetbagger from Kentucky to create a Master Plan... which has as its ultimate diabolical goal... the confiscating of land from innocent citizens of Reno? Why isn't Reno protecting these citizens against this onslaught? Their homes ARE NOT on airport property... they are in Reno.
9. City hall (and its mouthpiece Reno Gazette) begs for an Environmental Impact Statement study of the railroad. Folks, isn't it time for an EIS of the entire Reno area?
* The Un-american Airport and its noise, danger, and air pollution... and corrupt operation?
* The secretly concocted, ill-advised, and tainted River/Theater Project?
* The illegal and diabolical Air Guard/Reno Airport landgrab of homes from innocent citizens in Rewana Farms?
* The runaway ravaging of the land by carpetbaggers and land barons... depleting the already scarce natural resources... and generally destroying the habitat and quality of life for dozens of 1,000s of citizens?
8. Why can't the "geniuses" in Washington see that the smart thing to do with Iraq is bomb their oil fields? Sadam cares more about oil than people. Bomb the fields one by one.. and he will capitulate... when he sees his money burning up. How hard is it to figure this out?
8a. On the other hand, maybe America's fat cats feel the same about... oil versus bodies.
7. There is another new company coming to town. Mayor Griffin (the same mayor Griffin who gives public funds to his government bosses at EDAWN; who then turn around and give money to the mayor's private company) takes credit for it... even though it will be paying a salary of something like $360 per week. Folks, let's not give "credit"... where "blame" is due. [Click for more.]

6. ALERT! Please visit Joe Neal at his interernet site... by clicking below.
"Joe Neal Democrat for Nevada Governor!"
5. Wouldn't a citizen boycott of noise-polluting RenoAir be in order... if only the Un-american Airport aviation amateurs would stop subsidizing this "private" company with your taxes?
4. Here we go again, folks... more of the same old hypocritical railroad Flapdoodle from Reno city hall. If the trains have to pay for the noise and danger they might cause, then let's be fair. It is way past time for city hall to get on the airlines' and developers' backs... for the noise, danger, pollution, and general malaise they cause... which is much worse than that caused by the railroad. Besides, for lack of a better cliché... THE RAILROADS WERE HERE FIRST!
3. You heard this here first. Is it true that a big condo developer is going before the Sparks Planning Commissioner with a premeditated plan to finance a rental scheme through FHA financing? FHA laws permit ONLY owner-occupied use of their loans... Why didn't these Commissioners know this? Were they so enamored with the regions goal of cancerous growth that they didn't even ask questions about the legality of what was being proposed?
3a. As is the norm in local govt, the appointed leader of these "Planners" is also a high ranking official at another local clique of govt. appointees... Reno's Un-american Airport; whose number one goal is uncontrolled growth... with ignorance of the well-being and safety of Reno citizens. No conflict there?
2. Does anybody ever go downtown to gamble because they watched one of those asinine TV commercials? Ever? The "actress" hopes; Goody, maybe I can win enough money "to do my laundry"...
1. The Reno Gazette, (Northern Nevada media mouthpiece) writes that more growth will make a "good year". Folks, what would be so good about more cancerous growth? Can any sane person explain that?
1a. What would happen if local government "experts" burned their rubberstamps? No more casino growth, no more new houses, no more dangerous and noisy airline flights, no more huge storage facilities. A moratorium on additional blight. [Cancerous Growth never pays for the problems it causes.] Would the sky fall? We don't think so. Would quality of life improve? Yes.
1b. Reno's Un-american airport (still being run by aviation amateurs) is past the point of saturation. Each additional flight increases the potential for disaster... not to mention the terrible assault and battery of noise and air pollution. Yes, a rubberstamp moratorium would make for a very
"good year".
